This track is based on Romans 12:9-21, a song about community and what it means to try to live in a new way as we seek to become more like Jesus. A shout out to Chris Simpson of The Gloria Record for the imagery of extra skin: "So much extra skin, that I still can't fill it in". The line about partying like priests makes sense in this way: If a priest is someone who shows the world what their god is like, then we choose to party in that way, a way that shows the world the goodness and love of God.
lyrics
Our prayer this morning
Is to be a blessing
To those who cause suffering
To rejoice with those who are rejoicing
To weep with our friends as they’re weeping
We are putting on Christ
Like a new skin
That we won’t fill in
Til resurrection
We will eat with the poor
And party like priests
We will serve ridiculous feasts
Inviting all whom we love and adore
And those we wish would not come through our door
Help us seek peace
As far as we can
And let You bring justice in righteousness
As You arrive and set all things to right
Until then please help us to learn not to fight
